Downtown Miami is a rapidly changing, vibrant city center complete with residential living, office space, shopping, entertainment, recreation, dining and nightlife. Downtown Miami stretches between SW 15 Rd. in Brickell to about 14th St. and is the central business district of Miami, Miami-Dade County and South Florida. There are two distinct sections, separated by the drawbridge being Brickell and Omni.
Brickell is the more southern of the two and is a full banking city center. Previously the home of mansions and known as "Millionaires Row," Brickell has gone several major changes over the last twenty years and portions of the entire section of the city are still under construction. The mansions have been replaced with office buildings, hotels and residential high-rises. Shopping, dining and restaurants round out enclave. The unique PhillipeStarck & Arquitectonia design Icon Brickell provides a popular, trendy residential building and Viceroy Hotel. The average household income for Brickell is more then twice that of the rest of Miami-Dade.
Omni is rapidly evolving and will be the site of the future Paramount Miami World Center. This new multi-use development will feature everything from a shopping mall, to residential towers, nightlife, dining, etc. The NEW Zaha Hadid design One Thousand Museum continues to progress as does Museum Park. Coming soon to the area will also be SkyRise, an entertainment attraction with viewing platforms, rides and a nightclub. Prices in this area seem poised to rise with some many attractions coming to area which should increase demand.
